Code of Conduct

       (Approved and Adopted by the Management Committee – 13 February 2026)             

As a Club operated primarily by volunteers for the benefit of its members, all members of the Willetton Bowling Club have an individual and collective responsibility to contribute in a positive way to the operations of their Club.

Willetton Bowling Club’s Code of Conduct applies equally to members and their guests, including players from other Clubs visiting the Willetton Bowling Club for sporting competitions and social functions.

ON THE GREEN

  1. Players must always demonstrate respect towards their teammates, opponents and officials.  They must play the game within the “Laws of the Sport of Bowls” and in accordance with the Conditions of Play as directed by the controlling body, to the highest degree of sportsmanship and honesty.
  2. Players shall not engage in offensive or abusive language, show dissent, conduct unbecoming or actions which would bring themselves, the game of bowls, or the Club into disrepute.
  3. Should an offence occur during any competition held at the Club, instantaneous penalties may be applied under the Bowls Australia Instantaneous Penalties Policy.
  4. Spectators must not give advice, coach or conduct themselves in a manner which causes a distraction to the players.

WITHIN THE CLUBHOUSE AND LICENSED AREAS

  1. Members and guests should be able to enjoy the hospitality of the Club without fear of acts of discrimination, racial vilification, verbal, sexual or physical abuse.
  2. Members and guests should respect the rights of other patrons and will not conduct themselves in a manner that will cause offense.
  3. Abusive or offensive language is not permitted.
  4. Members and guests should only consume alcohol responsibly and within licensed areas.   They must accept any instruction from either the Duty Manager or a registered Responsible Server of Alcohol to amend their behaviour, or the service of alcohol to them may be discontinued without further notice and without complaint.

DRESS CODE

Respectable dress standards are expected to be always adhered to.   As a minimum - a shirt with sleeves, shorts and appropriate footwear should be worn and hats removed whilst in Club premises. 

Each member shall be responsible for ensuring the standard of dress and the behaviour of their guests in accordance with the Club’s requirements.

SMOKING AND ALCOHOL

  1. Smoking in any form (including vaping etc.) is prohibited, except in designated areas.   Smokers must dispose of butts correctly into the ashtrays provided.
  2. Members are to respect the rights of other members and visitors who wish to smoke in the designated areas.
  3. The consumption of alcohol is not permitted on the greens.  However, it is permitted in the licensed areas surrounding the greens.
  4. Alcohol acquired external to the Club is prohibited within the Clubhouse and grounds.
  5. Illicit or recreational drugs are prohibited within the Clubhouse and grounds.

MEMBER DISPUTES

All disputes will be resolved in accordance with the Club’s Constitution.
